ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT Parent to note the following:

(Common to all classes)

a. A student must secure a Mark not less than 35% in Written Test/Map or ProjectWork/Assignment/Subject     Enrichment Activities/Internal Assessment in Scholastic subjects andminimum grade ‘C’ in Co-Curricular     Activities for Nursery to Class V ,minimum mark 33%in Scholasticand minimum grade ‘C’ in Co–Scholastic     areasfor Class VI to VIII and minimum mark 33%in Scholastic and minimum grade ‘D’ in Co–Scholastic areasfor     Class IX to XII. 

b. Students appearing the Improvement Test will come to school only after getting the results of the     Improvement Test. Their attendance for the next session will be counted from the day after the declaration of     results of the Improvement Test. 

c. A student has to put in a minimum of 75% attendance. The attendance will be counted from the first day of     the new academic session. In case a child is absent on the day(s) or before the day(s) of the examination, the     subsequent application must be certified by both the parents. 

d. No leave will be sanctioned if information is received by school after taking leave. 

e. In case of illness, medical certificate of sickness and subsequently fitness certificate issued by NALCO doctor     alongwith photocopy of the relevant 

page of the medical card or RMPs only will be accepted.

Note:

No re-examination will be conducted for students until and unless they have been deputed to participate in inter-school/zonal/ district/national sports or any such activity.These students will be considered for the academic awards.

Nursery to Class V

I.  Scholastic Subjects(Main Subjects)

a)     Nursery  to  Class  V  will  have Two Terms:  Term-1(March  to

    September)andTerm-2(October to February) in an Academic Session. Each

    Term has 50 as the maximum marks.

b) Each Term will have One Periodic Assessment and one Half-yearly or Annual Examination. 

c) Each Periodic Assessment will have one Quarterly Examination of 20marks(reduced to 5 marks) of 45 minutes     duration and one Assignment of 10 marks(reduced to 2. 5 marks)and one subject enrichment activity of 10     marks(reduced to 2. 5 marks). 

d) Half- Yearly or Annnual Examination will have 40 as maximum marks and will be of 1 hour 30 minutes     duration. 

e) For Final Assessment, equal weightage will be given to all the two Terms. 

f) Result will be declared on the basis of Final Assessment only. In case a student secures 35% in one or two     subjects, he/she has to improve the performance by securing the minimum qualifying mark 35%. 

g) Assessment of subjects under Scholastic Area shall be in numerical scores upto two decimal places (i.e. 18.58 ;     9.36 etc.) which shall be indicated in the Mark Statement of Subject-wise Performance in Report Card. Marks     secured by the students will be rounded off only at the end of the Final Assessment. However for any award     calculation, rounding off of marks will not be considered. 

h) The qualifying mark in each subject under Scholastic Area shall be minimum Mark 35% inFinal Assessment. 

i) The students will be assessed in subjects under Scholastic Area using the 

    conventional numerical marking and later converted into grades.

Scholastic Subjects ( Internal Subjects)

a.)    One assignment and one subject enrichment activity of 5 marks each in 3rd Language will be conducted           before each Term.

b.)    Written Test of 40 marks in 3rd Language and General Knowledge of 50 marks of 1hour duration will be           eld before each Term.

c.)   Assignment and Practical of 10 marks and Written Test of 40 marks of 1 hour duration will be done in     Computer Science before each Term for class IV & V. Skill, Aptitude and ClassWork will be done in Computer     Science before each Term for class I,II&III. For Final Assessment, equal weightage will be given to all the two     Terms.

d.)   A student must secure a minimum of 35% marks for classes II to V in the 3rd Language, General Knowledge     and Computer Science in Final Assessment. The student who secures less than 35% in any of these subjects     has to improve the performance by securing the minimum qualifying mark 35%.

II. Co-curricular Activities: 

        Assessment in Co-curricular Activities (Games & Sports, Art/Craft, Music/Dance, Personality Development )

a) Games & Sports, Art/Craft, Music/Dance, Personality Development will be carried out before each Term 

b) Assessment in these subjects shall also be in grades, as per Scheme of Studies. 

II. Discipline:(Attendance,Sincerity,Behaviour and Values) 

Assessment in these subjects shall also be in grades, as per Scheme of Studies.  Assessment in subjects under

Co-curricular Activities shall be assessed on a 3 point scale twice in an academic sessionbefore each Term.

NOTE: At the end of the academic session, Report card will be issued to each student.

Classes VI to VIII

I. Scholastic Subjects (Main Subjects) 

a) Classes VI to VIII will have two Terms in an Academic Session: Term-1 (March to September) and Term-2         (October to February). 

b) Term-1 will have one Periodic Assessment(20 marks) and one Half-yearly Examination(80 marks)and         Term-2 will have one Periodic Assessment(20 marks) and one Annual Examination(80marks) . 

c) Each Periodic Assessment will have one Quarterly Examination having 40 marks(reduced to 10 marks) of 1         hour 30 minutes duration and two assignments of 20 marks each(40 marks reduced to 5 marks)and one         Subject Enrichment activity of 20 marks(40 marks reduced to 5marks) before the term end. 

d) Each half-Yearly or Annual Examination will have a maximum of 80 marks and will be of 2 hours 30         minutes duration . 

e) For Final Assessment, equal weightage will be given to all the two Terms. 

f) Result will be declared on the basis of Final Assessment only. In case a student secures below 33% marks         in maximum two subjects, he/she has to improve the performance through Improvement Test. No         promotion will be given if the child does not pass the Improvement Test. 

g) After Improvement Test, a student should secure minimum 33% marks in the subjects in which he/she         has appeared and also minimum 33% inFinal Assessment.

h) Assessment of subjects under Scholastic Area shall be in numerical scores up to two decimal places (i.e.         18.54 ; 9.39 etc.) which shall be indicated in the Mark Statement of Subject -wise Performance in Report         Card. Marks secured by the students will be rounded off only at the end of the Final Assessment. However         for any award calculation, rounding off of marks will not be considered. 

i) The students will be assessed in subjects under Scholastic Area using the conventional numerical         marking and later converted into the grades as per the CBSE grading pattern. 

Scholastic Subjects ( Internal Subjects)

a) One assignment and one subject enrichment activity of 5 marks each in 3rd Language and Practical of 10         marks in Computer Science will be conducted before each Term. 

b) Written Test of 40 marks in 3rd Language & Computer Science and General Knowledge of 50 marks of 1         hour 30 minutes duration will be held before each Term. 

c) For Final Assessment, equal weightage will be given to all the two Terms. 

d) A student must secure a minimum of 33% in the 3rd Language, Computer Science and General         Knowledge in Final Assessment. The student who secures less than 33% in any of these subjects has to         appear for an Improvement Test. 

e) Those students who could not clear the 3rd Language in class VIII, and have been promoted to class IX         shall be examined at the end of Class IX in the same syllabus and text books prescribed for Class VIII.

II. Co-curricular Activities: 

Assessment in Co-curricular Activities (Art Education,Work Education and Health & Physical Education)

a) Art Education,Work Education and Health & Physical Education will be evaluated before each Term 

b) Assessment in these subjects shall also be in grades, as per Scheme of Studies. 


III.              Discipline:(Attendance,Sincerity,Behaviour and Values)
                    Assessment in these subjects shall also be in grades, as per Scheme of Studies.
                    Assessment in subjects under Co-curricular Activitiesshall be assessed on a 3 point scale twice in an                     academic sessionbefore each Term.
NOTE:         The qualifying Mark in each subject under Scholastic Subjects (Main Subjects & Inernal Subjects) shall be 33%. At the                       end of the academic session, Report card will be issued to each student.
Class IX & X

I. Scholastic Subjects (Main Subjects) 

a) Classes IX & X will have Periodic Assessment and School conducted Annual Examination for class IX or Board Conducted Annual Examination for classX in an Academic Session: (March to February). 

b) Periodic Assessment will have Pre-Mid Term, Mid Term, Post Mid Term written examination, four assignments and two Subject Enrichment activities. 

i) Pre-Mid Term will have written examination having 40 marks of 1 hour 30 minutes duration which will be reduced to 10 marks. 

ii) Mid Term will have written examination having 80 marks of three hours duration which will be reduced to 10 marks 

iii) Post-Mid Term will have written examination having 40 marks of 1 hour 30 minutes duration which will be reduced to 10 marks 

iv) Average of best two written tests from the above three terms will be taken for 10mark written test. 

v) Four Assignments of 20 marks eachwill be evaluated and total 80 marks will reduced to 5 marks. 

vi) Two subject enrichment activity of 20 marks each will be conducted and total 40 marks will reduced to 5marks. 

vii) Periodic Assessment carries 20 marks which consist of 10marks written, 5 marks assignment and 5 marks subject enrichment activities in each subject.

c) School conducted Annual Examination for class IX or Board Conducted Annual Examination for class Xwill have a maximum of 80 marks and will be of three hours duration. 

d) It is mandatory for a student to appear and secure minimum 33% Marks in PeriodicAssessments and 33% marks in School conducted Annual Examination for class IX or Board Conducted Annual Examination for class X. 

e) For Final Assessment, weightage distribution is 20 Marks (PeriodicAssessments) and 80 marks Annual Examination for class IX or Board Conducted Annual Examination for class X. 

f) Result will be declared on the basis of both PeriodicAssessments and Annual Examination. In case a student secures below 33% in one or two subjects, he/she has to improve the performance through Improvement Test. 
g) After Improvement Test, student should secure minimum marks 33% in the subject(s) in which he/she has appeared. 
h) Assessment of subjects under Scholastic Area shall be in numerical scores upto two decimal places ( i.e. 18.56 ; 9.38 etc.) which shall be indicated in the Mark Statement of Subject -wise Performance in Report Card. Marks secured by the students will be rounded off only at the end of the Final Assessment. However for any award calculation, rounding off of marks will not be considered. 

i) The students will be assessed in subjects under Scholastic Area using the conventional numerical marking and later converted into the grades and the same shall be awarded as per the CBSE grading pattern. 

II. Scholastic Subject (Internal Subject) 

a) Practical of 10 marks and Written Test of 40 marks in Information Technology of 1 hour 30 minutes duration in Foundation of Information Technology will be conducted before each Term(liable to be modified as per CBSE circualar). 

b) A student must secure a minimum of 35% mark in Information Technology. The student who secures less than 35% mark in the subject has to appear for an Improvement Test.The conventional numerical mark will be converted to corresponding grade and the same grade will be reflected under Work Experience subject. 

II. Co-curricular Activities: 

Assessment in Art Education and HPE (Health and Physical Education) will be evaluated before each Term. Work Education and Health & Physical Education subsumed in HPEIt is mandatory for a student to appear this evaluation in order to be eligible for the next higher class in IX to appear Board Exam. in class X. The detailed evaluation schedule will be circulated later.

a) Assessment in these subjects shall also be in grades, as per Scheme of Studies.However HPE will be evaluated out of 100 marks. 

III. Discipline:(Attendance,Sincerity,Behaviour and Values) 

Assessment in these subjects shall also be in grades, as per Scheme of Studies. 

Assessment in subjects under Co-curricular Activities shall be assessed on a 5- point scale once in an academic session.

NOTE:

To be declared pass, a student has to secure 33% marks out of overall 20 marks earmarked in each subject in Periodic Assessment and 33% marks out of 80 marks in each subject in School conducted Annual Examination for class IX or Board Conducted Annual Examination for class X. 

At the end of the academic session, Report Card will be issued to each 

student of class IX by the school & class X by the Board.
Class XI
I. Scholastic (Main Subjects) 

a) Class XI will have one Class Test,one Quarterly, one Half-Yearly and Annual Examination in an academic session. 

b) All promotions will be based on performance in Class Test, Quarterly, Half-Yearly and Annual Examination. 

c) For Final Assessment, weightage distribution is 40% ( Class Test, Quarterly& Half-Yearly) and 60% (Annual Examination). 

d) To be declared pass, a student should secure minimum of 33% in each subject. In subjects involving Practical, the student has to secure a minimum of 33% in theory(Final Assessment) and practical(Annual) separately in addition to 33% in aggregate in Final Assessment. 

e) In case a student has secured less than Grade ’D’ in any one subject, he/she will have to appear for Compartmental Examination in the subject. 

f) There will be no Compartmental Examination in Practical. 

g) A student should secure a minimum of 33% in the subject(s) in which he/she has appeared the Compartmental Examination. Only then he/she will be declared pass. 

h) If the student is not able to score the minimum pass mark even after compartmental examination, then he/she will not be eligible for the next 

higher class and will be asked to repeat in the same class.
II. Scholastic Subject(Internal Subject) 

Assessment in General Studies will be conducted before Half-Yearly and Annual Examination. Evaluation will be done on 9 point scale (CBSE).

III.  Co-Scholastic Subjects

Assessment in HPE (Health and Physical Education) will be evaluated before each Term. Work Education and Health & Physical Education subsumed in HPE. It is mandatory for a student to appear this evaluation in order to be eligible for the next higher class in XI to appear Board Exam. in class XII. The detailed evaluation schedule will be circulated later. HPE will be evaluated out of 100 marks.Evaluation will be done on 9 point scale grading point (CBSE).
Class IX to XII

Note : Promotion criteria for classes IX, X , XI and XII will be as per CBSE specifications. It may change from time- to- time as and when CBSE amends the Examination By-Law.

ACADEMIC AWARDS
CLASSES I TO V

GENERAL CONDITIONS

1. The Academic Awards shall be declared for classes I to V on the basis of Final Assessment only. Here, the actual marks (without rounding off) scored by the child will be taken into account for deciding merit. For example, a student securing 89.73% or 89.99% will be marked as Grade A. 

2. To be eligible for any Academic Award, a student has to appear in all 

the Periodic Assessments(Written, Assignment and Subject Enrichment Activity) and Half-Yearly and Annual Examination under each Term.Howeverfor the students who have represented the school at competition(s), the Principal’s decision will be binding.

3. A student should secure a minimum of 91%marks in Scholastic Subjects and 80 points in total in Co-Scholastic in each Term. 

4. A student should put in a minimum of 75% attendance and attend all the National Days observed in the school 

5. The academic awards will be declared taking all the sections of a class together. 

GENERAL PROFICIENCY I, II AND III

1. The student who secures the highest aggregate will be declared as General Proficiency-I; the student who secures the second highest aggregate will be declared as General Proficiency-II and a student who secures the third highest aggregate will be declared as General Proficiency-III. 

2. To be eligible for General Proficiency, the student should have secured a minimum of 90% marks in all scholastic main subjects and 56% marks in all scholastic internal subjects 

3. If two students secure General Proficiency-I then, the General Proficiency-III will not be declared. If three students secure General Proficiency-I then, there will be no General Proficiency-II and III.

SUBJECT PROFICIENCY

Subject Proficiency I and II will be awarded only if the student secures the highest / second highest marks (in all sections) and a minimum of 90% marks in the respective subject and 56% marks in all other scholastic (Main & Inernal Subjects) subjects. If two students qualify for Subject Proficiency-I then, there will no Subject Proficiency II award.

CLASSES VI TO IX AND XI
GENERAL CONDITIONS

1. The Academic Awards shall be declared for classes VI to IX and XI on the basis of Final Assessment only. Here, the actual marks (without rounding off) scored by the child will be taken into accountfor deciding merit. For example, a student securing 90.73% or 90.99% will be marked as Grade A. 

2. To be eligible for any academic awards, a student has to appear in all the Periodic Assessments(Written Test/ Class Test, Assignment & Subject Enrichment Activities) / Pre-Mid Term/Quarterly Exams/ Half-Yearly/Mid-Term / Post- Mid Term Annual Exam as per class. 

3. A student should secure a minimum of 91% marks in Scholastic subjects, minimum of 16 points in total in Co-Sholastic Activities and Discipline for classes VI to VIII, minimum of 16 points in Co-Sholastic Activities and Discipline for classes IX & X and B2 in Co-Scholastic subjects for class XI. 

4. A student should put in a minimum of 75% attendance and attend all the National Days observed in the school 

5. The academic awards will be declared taking all the sections of a class together. 

6. However General Proficiency-II will be declared only in those classes which have a strength of more than 40 students. General Proficiency-III will be declared only in those classes which have a strength more than 80 students. 

GENERAL PROFICIENCY I, II AND III

1. The student who secures the highest aggregate will be declared as General Proficiency-I; the student who secures the second highest aggregate will be declared as General Proficiency-II and a student who secures the third highest aggregate will be declared as General Proficiency-III.

2. To be eligible for General Proficiency, the student should have secured a minimum of 91% marks in all scholasticmain subjects and 61% marks in all scholastic internal subjects 

3. For class XI in subjects which are common to XI Science and XI Commerce awards will be given considering both the sections together and for other subjects, awards will be given separately. 

4. General Proficiency Awards for class XI Science and XI Commerce will be declared separately subjected to the condition that the student’s achievement satisfies all other conditions. 

5. If two students secure General Proficiency-I then, the General Proficiency-III will not be declared. If three students secure General Proficiency-I then, there will be no General Proficiency-II and III. 

SUBJECT PROFICIENCY

1. Subject Proficiency I and II will be awarded only if the student secures the highest / second highest marks (in all sections) and a minimum of 91% marks in the respective subject and 61% marks in all other scholastic (Main& Internal) subjects. 

2. Subject Proficiency (2nd Language) in Hindi and Sanskrit will be declared separately. Subject Proficiency (3rd Language) in Hindi, Odia and Sanskrit will be declared separately. 

3. Subject Proficiency II will be declared only in those classes which have more than 80 students. 

4. If two students qualify for subject proficiency, then there will be no Subject Proficiency-II award. 

5. Subject Proficiency in Computer Science will be declared from Class IV to IX. Subject Proficiency in GK will be declared from class IV to class VIII. 

SCHOLAR BADGE

A child is declared Scholar from Class IV onwards and a scholar badge is given to a student securing certain number of points as per the grading pattern.

Classes IV & V

A student should secure a minimum of 25 points in total in the Scholastic Subject (Main Subjects), with minimum of ‘A’ grade in each of the Scholastic Subject (Internal Subjects) and minimum of 16 points in total in Co-Scholastic Activities and Discipline in each Term

Classes VI to IX & XI

A student should secure a minimum of 49 points in total in the Scholastic Subject (Main Subjects), with minimum of ‘A2’ grade in each of the Scholastic Subject(Internal Subjects) and minimum of 16 points in total in Co-Scholastic Activities and Discipline in each term for classes VI to VIII, minimum of 16 points in total in Co-Scholastic Activities and Discipline for class IX and B2 in Co-Scholastic subjects for class XI.

100% ATTENDANCE

Student(s) attending the class from the first day of the academic session to the last day of the Term-2/ Annual Examination will be eligible for the 100% Attendance Award.

If the student has attended all the official working days including on the day of National celebration of the school then he/she will be eligible for this award. 

The student must attend the classes from the first day of the academic session. 

If a student goes home in between, then attendance will be not be marked for the day. He /she will not be considered for merit purpose. 

SCHOLAR GOWN & GOLD MEDAL

A student securing a Scholar Badge for three consecutive academic sessions shall become eligible for a Scholar’s Gown and if it is for six consecutive sessions, for a Gold Medal.

GOOD CHIT

In order to boost the morale of the student, a Good Chit is awarded to all those students who excel or show improved performance in a particular subject.

CRITERIA FOR SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

In order to become eligible for Special Achievement Award, a child has to participate in National level competitions, examinations, NCC(RDC), Scouts and Guides Camps, Sports and Games and activities organised by reputed government recognized national bodies or institutions like – CBSE, DPS Society, NCERT, Olympiad Foundation,SCERT, SGFI, KVPY etc.

The child will be awarded points in a given academic session according to the following criteria. The points listed below will be applicable for those participants (individual or team) permitted (written permission only) by the School authority to participate in competitions at various levels. However points will not be awarded if a child secures positions in outside competitions if he/she had without prior intimation to the school authority. It is mandatory for the student to be present on all the National Days that are observed in the school like Republic Day, Independence Day. Attendance on these days will be considered for all kinds of school awards and merit certificates.

Awarding of points will not be a matter of right but a matter of merit

1. 20 points will be awarded if he / she secures top 3 positions and wins awards at the National level (SGFI, National Meets, DPS National Meet, CBSE National Meet, NTSE, Brahm Prakash Memorial Quiz, RDC, Rajya Puraskar, KVPY, DIST – Inspire Science Camp, National Board of Higher Mathematics, NCERT, and NSO.) 

2. 14 points will be awarded if he / she represents the school at National level but does not win any prize and top 3 positions in State level competitions. 

3. 10 points if he /she secures top 3 positions or wins awards at the DPS / CBSE Zonal level competitions. 

4. 06 points if he / she secures top 3 positions at the CBSE Cluster and District level competitions, Annual Training/Coaching Camp like- Sports, Games, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides, 

mountaineering, Trekking, excursion camp etc.

5. 04 points if he / she secures top 3 positions in competitions held at the local level (like NALCO, CISF, HAL, PARAB, any sort of exhibition organised by local agencies). 

6. 02 points if he/she participates in CBSE Cluster and District level Competitions like- Annual Training/Coaching Camp like Sports, Games, NCC, Scouts and Guides , mountaineering, trekking, excursion camp etc. 

7. Total points should not exceed 28 points in case of internal competitions, 56 points in case of external competitions for individual and team events and 112 points in case of competitions at the international level for individual and team events. 

8. Final external points will be added for overall championship. 

9. There will be no topper in Class X. If any organisation requires the topper then the Scholastic and Co-Scholastic criteria will be followed as for other classes like IX (as per CBSE norms). 

• All the above-mentioned points from Sl.No. 1-6 will be considered after the student produces documents/certificate or any authentic written proof (photocopy) which is to be submitted to the class teacher. The original documents will be produced during verification and consideration by the competent authority.
